I told my love Mia mi amour, I wanted to get my daughter Madelyn something for her birthday but I didn’t know what to get her. Mia said, ‘Write her a song!’ … So I sat at the kitchen table, turned on my phone recorder, and played the song all the way through—guitar, lyrics, everything. Then I wrote it down after listening back. The whole process took maybe 5 to 10 minutes. I’ve never written a song quite like that.”
