Exclusive Interview with Sharmila about her upcoming album and much more!

Sharmila is one of those artists that know how to combine exciting beats and powerful lyrics!

After the excellent debut single, “Burning For You (Club Mix),” dropped in Fall 2018, and the outstanding “Respect Your Body,” Sharmila is back stronger than before, ready to release her new project “DNA Damage,” very soon!

Today, at Planet Singer, we have the great pleasure of discovering more about her music and artistic journey with an exclusive interview!

Sharmila, it is such a pleasure having you with us today! We just listened to your songs, and we are thrilled to discover more about your artistic journey! So, let’s start from the beginning; how did you discover the passion for music?

Music was always important to me. In my childhood, I was interested in performing arts; I took dance lessons for eight years and was always busy listening to music and dancing every day until I couldn’t stop as I also wanted to become a professional dancer. Later in life, I started writing my own songs and took vocal lessons.

Your music is extremely motivating and engaging. What inspires you?

I often write about my own life experiences. I’m also inspired by just thinking about the universe or anything else that’s happening in my life. My daughter Tanisha will always be my inspiration, music or not music because to be a mom was the most important thing to me.

Your debut single, “Burning For You (Club Mix),” is such a great track! Can you tell us more about this song?

I wrote the song in the past. As I loved uptempo music, I wanted to create music that makes people wanna dance.

The past couple of years have been tough for the live music scene; many artists still focus more on live streams than going back to actual stages. How do you feel about it? Are you going to perform live anytime soon?

As soon as I’ve released my 2nd album, “DNA Damage,” I would like to perform again. As I like to interact with the audience, I prefer performing live over live streams, but maybe I can do both.

Great music, great lyrics, excellent production, and powerful message, all supported by your outstanding performances and voice! Are you a natural singer, or did you attend professional vocal lessons?

Yes, I did attend vocal lessons.

“Respect Your Body” is one of those songs everyone should listen to! Can you tell us more about this excellent track and its powerful meaning?

When I wrote the song, I wanted to empower women and girls to make them more aware of themselves. So I thought that women should respect their bodies and men should respect women.

As a songwriter, your style is unique, and the message that your songs carry has the power to inspire the listeners from the first second to the last! How important is it to you to produce and release music that can inspire and potentially change lives?

That’s very important to me. When I write songs, listeners can relate to, open a new view on things, can change people’s lives, or just make their day a bit better; that’s a good thing.

“DNA Damage” will be out soon. Can you reveal something more about it? Will it follow the same stylistic line of “Respect Your Body” and “Burning For You (Club Mix)?”

It will have a different and new sound with all the new songs I wrote in 2018 and 2019. It’s pop music, but the music style can change; it depends on the type of song I wrote.

What are your plans for the future?

To release my 2nd album, “DNA Damage,” do more live performances when it’s possible. At the moment, I’m going through a difficult time. I recently lost my 25-year-old daughter Tanisha. We’ve been sick from drinking unsafe tap water in Holland, and she died on April 3. I also wrote songs about Tanisha; these songs are coming up too.

Sharmila, it was such a pleasure having you with us today; we can’t wait for “DNA Damage” to be out! Is there anything you would like to say to our readers?

Thank you, it was a pleasure talking to you too. To the readers, I would like to say thanks for reading the interview and listening to my music. Stay tuned for “DNA Damage.”
