An inspiring conversation with talented Sophia Dias, about her album, her book, and much more!

Hi Sophia, thanks a lot for being here with us at Planet Singer today! The “Bullet Proof” album is such a great discovery for all those who love genuine and honest music. We are thrilled to know more about your artistic journey, so let’s start from the beginning. When did you discover your passion for music?

Thank you for having me. My passion for music ignited in boarding school. However, my passion re-ignited during the height of COVID; I was guided to write about the plight of lawmaker NAZANINE Zachariah RATCLIFFE and I penned down a song for her in the French language called PSAUMES 23.

“Bullet Proof” is both an album and a book. You have been through a lot and your work is so inspiring. Can you tell us more about this incredible project?

BULLETPROOF, the book & the Album captures a rather challenging situation in my life, where a former life partner, went above and beyond to abandon me as a destitute. Upon speaking with my friends and colleagues across the globe, I was advised to write about the events and share them with the world, primarily to inspire others. Also, highlighting what really happened inside ROOM 3010 the second track on the Album.

The album came to life thanks to co-producer Clive Hunt and the support of some incredible Jamaican musicians. How important was it for you to have the right team to back you up in such a delicate part of your life?

The decision to hire Clive Hunt was a tough one. Hunt is a genius in the studio. As a team, we all brought valuable talent to the single PSAUMES 23 & the BULLETPROOF Album. It was a terrific experience working with Dean Fraser, ( saxophonist) Okiel McIntyre ( trumpeter) Michael Fletcher ( bass guitar) kirk Bennett ( A + drummer) Lamont Savory (ukelele) & electric guitar, Hector Lewis ( percussionist) Roland McDermott ( studio engineer) Shane Brown ( mixing engineer) We were the perfect musical family.

Where do you find your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from people, the Bible, Marcus Garvey, Gandhi, Robert Nesta Marley, and Dalai Lama.

If you could collaborate with one of the artists who influenced you the most, who would you like to work on a project with?

Fela Kuti.

Do you feel writing for your book and for your music needs a different approach, or do you use the same process?

The process is the same. I am authentic, raw, and real.

“Bullet Proof” is such an incredible album that hits the listeners deeply, and captivates their attention from the first song to the last! Songs like the excellent “Stronger Than Before” motivate and inspire thanks to the great meaning and the captivating arrangement. Can you tell us more about this song?

Stronger Than Before, is actually me celebrating the demise of a horrid marriage in which I nearly died. several times! It took tremendous courage, discipline, and dedication to merge into the person I once was. Fearless.

Music, like all forms of art, delines a journey. Do you feel like “Bullet Proof” is a closed chapter or will you keep telling your story with your next project?

BULLET PROOF does not define me. It is a closed chapter. I pray to God daily, that I have inspired others to survive.

What are your plans for the future?

I am working closely with Sharry Flaherty of Sameraentertainment & Ranelle Golden, scriptwriter, to bring the BULLETPROOF movie to life. I am also working on a new EP with Boysie Caison, Lamont Savory & Sara DeLaurentis named $ BLUEPRINT, to be recorded at Abbey Road recording studio.

Sophia, it was such a pleasure having you with us. Is there anything you would like to say to our readers?

Please make time to pay it forward.
