Don Kahni, thank you for being with us today at Planet Singer! Your sound and style are unique, and through your music, we can feel the best vibes of Reggae and Dancehall with that modern twist that makes your music stand out! We are thrilled to know more about your artistic journey, so let’s start from the beginning. When did you discover your passion for music?

I first discovered my love for music at the age of 13 while I was in Middle School.

I, and a few of my friends, would knock beats on the decks in the classroom while spitting rhymes, challenging each other to see who has the best lyrics.

From there I started to actually write my own lyrics. By the time I got to High School, I started recording complete songs and was getting great feedback from my peers.

“Pree” is such a great track. Can you tell us more about it?

Pree is a song that many young people from the place I’m from can relate to, in that track I basically speak about getting a fight and negative energy from people who are jealous and envious of your success.

This is a real issue that many people face, including everyone that was a part of the process of putting this track together.

Without a doubt it’s the best song I have out now, the stunning visuals from Kemstyle Studios complimented it and made the overall project a great one that many people love and appreciate.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I’m inspired by pretty much anything I see or hear that stands out to me as well as everyday life experiences of not only myself but the people around me.

Vybz Kartel is a major inspiration to me also, among other artists such as Masicka and Skillibeng.

Dancehall and much more. Even in your previous tracks, like the excellent “Shake” and “Whole Lotta Money,” it is clear how the narrative in your lyrics is a key element. How important is it to you to tell a story through your songs that reaches and connects with your audience?

It’s all about storytelling for me, the melodies and flows just bring more life to the story.

Your narrative is also supported by your unique sound. Your songwriting is vital to achieving such a great result. Can you reveal what your artistic process is? How does your music come to life?

At the point where I’m at now, my process of making a song is real easy. Once I like the beat and I decide what type of song I’m going for then I just find a vibe that compliments the beat.

The moment I come up with the first line, the rest is history. By the way, I haven’t physically written a song in years so all this is done in my head.

Are you planning any live shows soon?

Yes, there are a couple of events throughout the year that I’m going to be performing, I’m not in the position to state the dates at this time but once you follow me on the socials you’ll get updates.

If you could collaborate with one of the artists that inspire you, who would you like to share a song and the stage with?

This one is too easy… Vybz Kartel!

Gaza forever.

In your latest single, “Pree,” you keep the same energy as your previous releases and also show a different side of your artistry. As an artist, do you feel like every song is a piece of a puzzle?

I feel like there is a place for every song. The moment a song is created, somewhere in the world will be at least one other person to appreciate it.

What are your plans for the future?

I will be releasing new music and visuals for the female fans on Valentine’s Day also I’m looking forward to dropping at least 1 EP for the year 2023.
