Hi Pernille, thanks for being with us today at Planet Singer! Your latest single, “Burn,” is one of those songs that captivate the listener’s attention from start to finish. After the excellent debut with “Heavenly Things,” your new EP, “Poison Love,” confirms your talent and shows another side of your artistry. We are thrilled to know more about your artistic journey so far so, let’s start from the beginning. When did you discover your passion for music?

Thank you so much for having me. I’ve always had a passion for music. It just came naturally to me. However, I didn’t consider it a possibility until I got singing lessons for Xmas at fifteen, where I met my future manager Myrna Braza. She introduced me to a local singing competition where I performed on stage with my newly acquired guitar skills and a 9-minute long self-written song. It was at that moment I knew that this was what I wanted to do forever.

“Burn” is such a great song. Can you tell us more about it?

To me, “Burn” is all about unconditional love. Where there are no boundaries and limits to what one would not do for the other, it was inspired by the Netflix series “Shadow and Bone,” where the main character not only puts herself at risk but everyone around her for the sake of an undeniable love. However, “Burn,” like all of my songs, are for each individual to interpret for themselves.

We also feel that in your latest song, you wanted to show another side of you as an artist. How important is it to you to change and evolve while staying true to your artistic self?

My whole image is about different sounds and different perspectives, something for everyone. As I grow, so does my music. I learn new things all the time, and so that will reflect in my music. And therefore, to me, yes, change is good; it shows growth.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I draw inspiration from everything: from life, movies, and even words that stand out to me. Like I mentioned earlier, I really focus on different sides to a story. I want people to feel understood by my music. When I create my songs, I draw inspiration from the melody I created and the emotions that it evokes.

If you could collaborate with one of the artists who influenced you the most, who would you like to share a song with?

Personally, I’m more focused on the music rather than the artist, and so I would say I’m more influenced by the sound. But Selena Gomez is an artist I look up to in a way, and I think that we could create something awesome.

Your single “Burn” is the perfect introduction to your new EP “Poison Love!” Can you tell us more about this project? Will a full-length release follow as well?

Following the release of my introduction single “Burn” will be the single “Obsession” in November. I will then continue releasing up until a fully released EP, spring 2022. The EP includes songs such as “Woman,” “I hate that I care,” and “Here we go again.” The upbeat vibe is a Re-occurring theme throughout the EP. I would love to create another music video for this EP once again. When it comes to the future release of an album, it’s something that I would love to do, but I think perhaps I need to gain a little more listeners before that is possible, but who knows, maybe I could release an album as soon as 2023.

Great music, memorable melodies, and intense lyrics. Your songs are much more than catchy tunes. How important is it for you to connect with those who listen to your music and deliver such inspiring messages?

When I write music, more often than not, there is some sort of message or feeling I try to convey. Although I write music because I love it, I really just want my music to resonate with those who listen. If I can help one person and make them feel a little less alone, or just put a smile on someone’s face, I feel that I’ve done a good job or that I’ve made a difference.

Are you planning any live or streaming shows anytime soon?

I would love to perform as soon as possible. I’m currently living in Germany, and due to the corona situation, there have been limited possibilities. I did get to perform earlier this summer, and I hope I can squeeze in a couple more here and there before I’m finished with my studies; as for online streaming, that is definitely something I’m considering.

What are your plans for the future?

Looking forward, my plans are to create, record, and release music each year. So far, I’m creating EP’s, which then I release one by one; hopefully, I can release an album. I also want to film some music videos for songs to come, maybe even one per EP. I also plan on performing as much live as possible, and I would love to travel to do so.

Pernille, it was such a pleasure having you with us today. Is there anything you would like to say to our readers?

Thank you so much for listening to my music; more is coming, so stay tuned. The next single will be released in November, and if you liked my previous single, “Burn,” I think you will enjoy this single, “Obsession,” as well.
