Big Bad Marco, it is such a pleasure having you with us today at Planet Singer. We loved your latest release; your music is so exciting and dynamic, so we are very curious to dig a bit more into your world! Let’s start from the beginning. How did you discover your love for music?
I discovered my love for music from always being around my father and experiencing his energy and real love for music to be doing it for so many years without much success but still refusing to stop believing it will happen one day. He makes music not for what you can get out of the industry but because the thought of delivering his words and feelings to people and getting a certain reaction from them evokes an unexplainable feeling of peace and joy inside him, and I love music for that same reason.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Well, I grew up in the countryside with both parents and my father Boby Dixon A.K.A Fire Pan, who was, and still is, an aspiring Reggae artist, was always sings his songs in the house and around the yard. To be honest, he was always singing, lol, and he would go out to stage shows and tell the family about his experiences and his journey so far through music. He would also play his songs and other artists as well on the speakers all the time. My father is most definitely my biggest inspiration.
Your song “More Money” is fantastic. Can you tell us more about this track?
This track is such a relatable track for so many reasons. We currently live in a world where everything requires some amount of money. The motivation for this track came from me thinking about all the stuff I could do if I had more money, all the places I could go, and all the experiences I could have. There are a lot of youths who got caught up in situations and have had to make decisions that they didn’t want to make just because of the necessities needed for life. As I said in the song, “Money a the pree, a the remedy.”
You work with a team of other incredible talents; How important is it for you and your music to collaborate with the right people?
It is very important to have solid teamwork; after all, no man stands alone. There are so many things to get done and in a timely manner that it would be impossible to do it by yourself; having the right people around to not only do separate tasks but who can also guide you towards a mutual goal is everything.
Your other single, “Pree This,” is extremely engaging, your style is evident in all your tracks, and especially in this song, we can feel your energy and stamina. What’s the secret behind your music?
My take on music is highly modernized and is directly affected by all genres of music. Yes, I make Dancehall Music, but you might hear a bit of Hip-Hop here a bit or Reggae there, a splash or RnB over there, might sprinkle a bit of Jazz. To me, music is freedom of expression and a whole language by itself. I don’t just hear music; I listen to it, I feel it, I experience it. The mood I’m in reflects in the music I listen to at any given time.
Can you reveal your songwriting process?
But I don’t write my music tho… lol.
If you could collaborate with one of the artists who influenced your artistic path, who would you like to share a track or stage?
Are you planning to release a full-length album soon?
We’re aiming for what’s beyond the stars; who knows what might happen.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep delivering and doing what I do best.
It was such a pleasure having you with us today. We wish you all the best with your music. Is there something you would like to say to our readers?
