It is always a great pleasure to listen to a familiar voice, especially when it is the voice of an artist whose music stands out of the crowd. Some artists are right in one genre; others feel confident and excel in many kinds, mixing different styles and creating new sonorities and exciting sounds that capture the listeners’ attention resonating with them as no one else can do. Thanks to artists like Doddi, music finds new ways, new colors, and new trajectories. Today, at Planet Singer, we have the great pleasure of listening to Doddi’s latest single “Casablanca (Italo Disco),” an engaging track from the Versions EP, which includes four versions of the same songs in different styles!
Almost 20 years of career for this talented artist and from 2018, when he started releasing music as Doddi, till today Þórður Helgi Þórðarson has produces some incredible tracks, unleashing his artistry and unstoppable versatility! It is a great pleasure to share his music once again, and today more than ever, we can appreciate Doddi’s artistic maturity!
“Casablanca” covers an Icelandic cult classic revisited by Doddi, who created a new soundscape for each track of Version’s EP. In the Italo Disco rearrangement, Doddi explored this genre, focusing on the loops of synth sounds, supported by a constant but efficient rhythmic. A crescendo in the choruses typical of the late 80s and early 90s Italo Disco Music gives dynamic to the whole track. The wide reverb and the vocal harmonies typical of this genre work as a time machine, ready to take you for a ride back to the golden era of Disco music. Incredible is the arrangement of work done on the other three versions of “Casablanca,” Techno, After Dark, and N3dek EDM, each with its own identity and story to tell!
